When I got home and opened up the package, there were two game discs pressed into the case! So, once I figured out that the game I placed all my hopes on ended up sucking it hard, I returned the game and got ~$18 in store credit. I then came back a week later with the other disc in a plain cd jewel case and got ~$17 for that one!
These prices are with the Game Stop member card I have (worth it alone just for the subscription price to Game Informer) which gives you 10% off used games and I think an extra 10% in credit when you trade in games. So, I still ended up being short ~$5 + tax on 2k6, but I was able to get a different (and much better) brand new game in it's place. That took away a good deal of my bitterness towards the game. If I hadn't had that second disc to trade in for additional credit, I'd probably still be quite steamed about the whole situation.
